Assay Services FAQs

  1. How should I organize my samples before transporting or shipping? Please organize your samples in the order you want us to run them. Each sample should be securely labeled and arrayed from first to the last in a suitable sample storage box. Never dump your sample tubes directly into ice or dry ice containers. If it takes Assay Services staff time to organize, you may incur extra costs. More importantly, we cannot analyze samples if the labels come off or are not readable. Do not forget to provide a list of your samples (in the same sequence your samples are, from first to last) as an electronic file to your Assay Services contact. Samples could be run in one or more sets, so please indicate whether a group of samples need to be run as one set. For an example spreadsheet, see Samples Excel-Assay Services.
  2. How much does it cost to analyze a sample for an analyte of my interest? How could I get the information? Costs vary for different analytes and service requested. To be sure you identify the best assay and service option for your project, contact Dr. Kapoor or Cody Corbett (see contact info on the Assay Services home page) with details about your project objectives
  3. What happens to my samples when the analysis is completed? We can (a) send the samples back to you; (b) store your samples for up to one year before disposing them;  (c) dispose of your samples after you’re satisfied with the results — just let us know what you prefer.
  4. How do I get my results? Assay Services staff provide electronic spreadsheets via email.
