The Immunology Services (IS) Unit offers comprehensive support for investigators conducting pre-clinical studies at the WNPRC. We provide expert consultation on study design, prepare biosafety and animal use protocols, and assemble rhesus or cynomolgus macaque cohorts tailored to your research needs. Our team coordinates all aspects of sample collection, expertly isolates lymphocytes from blood and tissues, and manages sample shipments.
Our state-of-the-art flow cytometry facility includes a BSL3-housed cell sorter making it ideal for infectious disease studies in nonhuman primates. With extensive experience in ELISA and flow cytometry-based assays, our staff delivers reliable, high-quality data. We have recently expanded our capabilities with a monoclonal antibody isolation core that can isolate antibodies from nonhuman primates or virtually any other animal species.
We welcome inquiries from all investigators.

STANDARDIZED FLOW CYTOMETRY STAINING PANELS
Immunology Services has standardized staining panels to monitor the phenotype and functional capability of various T cell subsets, including memory and naive T cell populations, follicular helper T cells, and regulatory T cells. We also quantify plasmablast cells, myeloid and plasmacytoid dendritic cells, classical, non-classical and intermediate monocytes. Our standardized assays to measure the frequency and functional capacity of various NK cells subsets have been published in Cytometry A (see links below).

- Functional Analysis of Natural Killer Cell Subsets in Macaques (pdf)
- Ex Vivo Analysis of SIV Infected Cells by Flow Cytometry (pdf)
We developed a staining panel to identify and quantify neutrophil progenitors in rhesus macaques.
