OVERVIEW
Immunology Services (IS) is a research service unit of the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center that specializes in measuring antigen-specific cellular responses in nonhuman primates (NHPs) and antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) in NHPs and humans.
IS performs standardized ELISpot and flow cytometry-based immune assays, and conducts vaccination experiments. In addition to routine tests, IS offers consultation on the design of flow cytometry experiments and develops custom immune-assays to meet the specific aims of collaborating investigators. Primate Center investigators and other NIH-supported researchers receive priority attention from IS, but anyone is welcome to contact us. Learn how we support investigators at Immunology Services Case Studies.
We provide the following services:
- ELISpot assays to measure antigen-specific T cell and plasmablast responses.
- Intracellular Cytokine assays to measure antigen-specific T cell responses.
- Multicolor flow cytometric phenotype analysis (up to 17 parameters).
- BSL3 level-cell sorting by multicolor flow cytometry (up to 8 parameters).
- Monoclonal antibody production from supernatants of hybridomas.
- Fluorochrome conjugation to purified monoclonal antibodies.
- SIV or HIV-specific ADCC assays.
- Vaccination experiments in nonhuman primates.
STANDARDIZED FLOW CYTOMETRY STAINING PANELS
Immunology Services has standardized staining panels to monitor the phenotype and functional capability of various T cell subsets, including memory and naive T cell populations, follicular helper T cells, and regulatory T cells. We also quantify plasmablast cells, myeloid and plasmacytoid dendritic cells, classical, non-classical and intermediate monocytes. Our standardized assays to measure the frequency and functional capacity of various NK cells subsets have been published in Cytometry A (see links below).

- Functional Analysis of Natural Killer Cell Subsets in Macaques (pdf)
- Ex Vivo Analysis of SIV Infected Cells by Flow Cytometry (pdf)
We developed a staining panel to identify and quantify neutrophil progenitors in rhesus macaques.
