RESEARCH DESCRIPTION

I have over 20 years of experience studying adaptive immune responses in nonhuman primates, primarily in HIV infection models. Recently, my lab has studied allogeneic cellular and humoral immune responses in nonhuman primates, identifying a nonhuman primate-specific minor histocompatibility antigen and isolating monoclonal antibodies to polymorphic macaque proteins (ex. major histocompatibility antigens). Through this work, we developed a novel method for isolating monoclonal antibodies from single-cell sorted rhesus macaque B cells, efficiently amplifying paired heavy and light chain V(D)J coding regions. This approach enables unbiased capture of immunoglobulin genes for sequencing and cloning for the genetic and functional characterization of antigen-specific B cells.
